What is Guided Imagery and Music
The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) belongs to the holistic traditions of psychotherapy. It is a form of music-assisted therapy, an innovative tool that can be used alongside many therapeutic approaches, with scientific evidence for effectiveness in various clinical fields.
This 3-day seminar and workshop introduces healthcare professionals including arts therapists, counsellors, nurses, psychotherapists, psychiatrists and psychologists and those employed in other helping professions to the basic theory and practice of GIM and includes both theoretical teaching and experientials. A full training in the method will be offered later in 2019 for those who wish to continue. The training focuses on the traditional GIM method but also incorporates modifications and adapted shorter forms of Music and Imagery (MI),appropriate for work in various fields such as psychological trauma, psycho-oncology, palliative care, perinatal psychology, addictions, team-building, etc.
This professional training course is approved and accredited by the international Association for Music and Imagery (AMI). Graduates are eligible to apply for registration as Fellows of AMI and approved therapists of the method.
