A Series of Intensive Weekends
Perspectives from Dance Movement Psychotherapy
THESE INTENSIVE WEEKENDS ARE DESIGNED TO OFFER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES TO CARE PROFESSIONALS WORKING IN THE HEALTH SECTOR, EDUCATION, SOCIAL OR VOLUNTARY SETTINGS.
Outcomes:
On completion of each weekend, participants will receive certificate of attendance for CPD purposes. On completion of weekends 1-4 participants will receive a certificate of attendance for the introduction to dance movement psychotherapy.

Five intensive weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

– Weekend one to four: £185 (£130 concessions*)

Course Details:
These five intensive weekends aim to:
– introduce selected aspects of the discipline of dance movement psychotherapy;
– support the development of awareness of relational and personal issues in non-verbal communication;
– offer embodied knowledge of therapeutic practices with children and adults with diverse abilities to professionals from diverse backgrounds and
– offer experiences of using action-based and body-based methods to facilitate clinical supervision.
Structure:
Weekend 1 (22-23 October 2011): Building relationships through the embodied self – an introduction to DMP and Marian Chace in particular
Delivered by Dr Vicky Karkou. Open to all. £185 (£130 concessions)
Weekend 2 (3-4 December 2011): Exploring the inner self – an introduction to Authentic Movement, a practice of embodied presence as a mover and as a witness
Delivered by Fran Lavendel. Open to all. £185 (£130 concessions)
Weekend 3 (18-19 February 2012): Using movement and non-verbal communication for people with disabilities – theory and applications
Delivered by Ruth Massie. Open to all. £185 (£130 concessions)
Weekend 4 (14-15 April 2012): Exploring the dance of play with children and adolescents – theory and applications
Delivered by Dr Vicky Karkou. Open to all. £185 (£130 concessions)
For those attending all four weekends, there is a reduced fee of £700 (£400 concessions – saving £40 for fully paying participants and £120 for those with concessional prices).
On completion of each weekend participants will receive a certificate of attendance for CPD purposes and by the end of the four weekends participants will receive a certificate of attendance for the introduction to dance movement psychotherapy.
Weekend 5 (2-3 June 2012):
– Trusting the wisdom of the body in supervision – A unique opportunity to combine movement based and action methods in the context of clinical supervision.

Open to qualified arts therapists (drama, dance movement, music or art therapists), counsellors and psychotherapists (or other professionals who use psychotherapeutic supervision for their clinical practice). £185 (£130)
